START TIMES AND START WAVES

The 4th edition of L'Etape Denmark by Tour de France will take place on Saturday, 27. June 2026.

Start times

  • 300 KM - Flensburg-Viborg: 6:30-7:30
  • 160 KM - Vejen-Viborg: 9:30-11:00
  • 125 KM - Aalborg-Viborg: 10:00-11:00
  • 75 KM - Nørre Snede-Viborg: 11:30
  • 50 KM - Funder-Viborg: 11:30

How does the start waves work?

On the 300, 160 and 125 km routes, the start is in waves of approximately 50 riders with a few minutes in between. In general, the fastest riders start first in order to minimize overtakings and dangerous situations.

When you register, you rate your own level and choose an expected average speed. This will determine your start time.

Specific for the 300 km: Here, there is a "slow" group starting 30 minutes ahead of the rest of the field in order to give the less strong riders a chance to reach the finish in time. This group contains only the riders with the slowest expected average speed.

You will receive your personal start time on mail approximately 1 week before the race.

How to make sure you start with your team

When you register, you can sign up as part of a team. You can either create your own team or join an existing one.

All participants on the same team are automatically placed in the same start wave, making it the easiest way to ensure that you start together with the people you want to ride with.

The person who creates the team chooses an expected average speed, which will determine the start time for the entire team.

Once a team has been created, everyone else can see it and join it. It’s also possible to set a password if you wish to keep the team closed or private.

COLLECTION OF BIB NUMBERS

Bib numbers can be collected at the starting area from 1 hour before your start time.

In Flensburg, bib numbers can also be collected on Friday evening from 18:00-20:00 at SdU, Norderstraße 76, 24939 Flensburg.

BUS SHUTTLE & BAG TRANSPORT

L'Etape Denmark is an A to B-race. This means that all routes start in different locations and finish at the same place in Viborg.

We want to make your life easy when participating in L'Etape Denmark. Therefore, we organize bus transport from the finish to the different starting points. Click here to read more.

It's also possible to have a small bag (max size 55x40x20cm) transported from the start to the finish area. This can be added during the registration process.

THE FEED STATIONS

L'Etape Denmark by Tour de France is characterized by the incredible feed stations highlighted by our participants.

The feeding starts already in the starting villages that serve a light breakfast with coffee and bread. The feed stations along the courses serve a varied and delicious selection of real and hot foods, snacks, sweets, cakes and fruits. There will also be soda, coffee and energy drink.

Feed stations organized by local volunteers

Unlike certain gran fondos, our feed stations are organized by local volunteers serving local delicacies and lots of real foods rather than energy products, so there won't be any energy bars og gels available at the feed stations.

However, we can guarantee you that you won't be hungry or thirsty during L'Etape Denmark.

On the longest 300 km route there are a total of 7 feed stations, while the other 4 routes visit between 1 and 4 feed stations.

Click on each route to see the exact number and location of the feed stations:

By participating in L'Etape Denmark you support the local volunteers and their sports clubs, as they receive an economic contribution for their efforts.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT AS A RIDER?

You can expect a challenging and unique cycling experience riding on a beautiful route filled with challenging climbs, amazing landscapes and historical sights for every pedal stroke. You can also expect great support and selections in our feeding stations as well as a unique ending to your ride in the finishing city of Viborg.

These are the headlines of Hærvejsløbet - The Viking Gran Fondo, which L'Etape Denmark is now a part of. In addition to this, you can now also expect great Village atmosphere and a proper Tour de France feel competing for the famous leaders jerseys.
