Look Back at L’Étape Denmark 2025

On 28 June 2025, more than 7,000 cyclists from across Denmark and beyond ride to the historic city of Viborg for L’Étape Denmark by Tour de France, also known as "The Viking Gran Fondo". The event transformed the ancient Hærvejen pilgrim trail into a celebratory and challenging sportive, featuring five route options—from a family-friendly 50 km to an epic 300km race with over 2,500m of elevation!

A Viking Challenge with Variety and Heritage

Participants could choose from five different distances: 50km, 75km, 125km, 160km, or the main 300km ride from Flensburg, Germany, to Viborg. Each one offered a blend of Scandinavia’s rolling landscapes and historic terrain to every cyclists.

The true Tour de France spirit in the land of cycling

During the time of the race, L’Étape Denmark embraced the look and feel of the real Tour de France, offering to every cyclist the feeling to be a pro-rider from the "Grande Boucle". The event featured timed segments, with both climbs (KOM) and sprint sections, where participants competed for the official Tour de France distinctive jerseys:

  • The Yellow jersey (overall classification);
  • The Green jersey (sprints section);
  • The Polka-Dot jersey (climbs section). 

At the finish in Viborg’s race village, winners were awarded during the official podium ceremonies with these jerseys
